Woodland Edge Garden
Turning a negative into a positive in an area with an attractive natural backcloth. The constraints were obvious showing an uneven, slippery and, also, uninviting grassy slope to the lower woodland area and stream. There existed however, a rather interesting feature of adjoining walls wrapping the footprint of an old greenhouse – tantalising but difficult to access. We sculpted the land to form easy paths and used local and sustainable hard materials such as green oak to enclose the planting around the spacious terraces.
This planting grows gently in height towards the woodland – decorative to finger tip height and then looser and grassier.
